The Institute of Montessori Education (TIME) was founded in 2008 by a group of dedicated Montessori educators and administrators under the leadership of Munir Shivji in Houston, Texas. In 2019, TIME expanded to support the Montessori movement in California under the guidance of MaryEllen Kordas and Mirko Sever. Now more than ever, there is an increased interest in the benefits of Montessori education throughout the country, and, in turn, a high demand for excellent teachers. TIME's programs and services are designed to meet this growing need by providing high-quality professional development and training in the field of Montessori education. At The Institute of Montessori Education, we are committed to strengthening relationships within the local community of Montessori educators and organizations and to fostering opportunities that promote Montessori education in Texas and California. TIME is the only organization in Texas to offer opportunities for state-wide communication and collaboration.
The scope of our mission is to:
Provide exceptional professional development and training programs
Foster outreach opportunities to promote Montessori education
Build community among Montessori patrons and kindred organizations
Encourage and promote standards of excellence and disseminate pertinent information
Support best practices in Montessori education
Our current activities includes:

We believe that Montessori education has the power to bring about positive changes in the world, and by cultivating the natural evolution of its practice, we ensure that Montessori continues to make the most impact and that the philosophy transcends time. We aim to apply the Montessori principles of human development to the advancement of our organization.
